How to Install Wrought Iron Chair Glides
If you need to change or replace the chair glides on your wrought iron furniture, read on. This is pretty simple to do but it can be a little fiddly.
- First, you need to remove the old cap. You can do this by inserting a flat-head screwdriver into the gap to prise it out. You might need to tap it a few times but it should pop out fairly easily.
- In order to get a snug fit for your replacement chair glides, use a plier to pry in the metal in 2 or 3 places. This will mean your replacement glides will fit better and won’t fall out easily.
- Next, put the new glide into position and hold. You will need to tap it into the casing with a hammer. This might be a little difficult but this is what you want because you want it to be a tight fit.
- If you really can’t get the new caps in, we have a handy trick up our sleeves! You can boil them briefly in hot water. This will soften them up meaning that they’re easier to fit!
